Rick Fleury
at Addison Art Gallery
September Sky, Rick Fleury
Though there is still that occasional hot spell, New England weather is beginning to cool down
as the days get shorter and the air crisper; it is a fitting time of year to view the painted landscapes
of Rick Fleury. Fleury's landscapes are 80% sky, the key to their emotional and physical effect on the viewer.
Looking at the play of colors and clouds in a Fleury landscape is as refreshing as being outside
on a brisk autumn day or as invigorating as watching the clouds roll in just before a storm.
Fleury pares down to the essential elements to create refreshingly meditative compositions,
every work a breath of fresh air. The beloved Cape artist has recently been welcomed into a new gallery,
the esteemed AddisonArtGallery of Orleans, MA. The owner has been a long-time admirer of the artist,
and Fleury too is delighted, calling this "the most significant turning point in (his) career."
An exhibition featuring Fleury's work jointly with artist Eric Emile Walker opens at the gallery this Saturday,
September 1-reception from 5:30-7:30 p.m. You can also drop in on Sunday from 3-5 p.m. when Fleury will
be performing a painting demonstration.
