                   Donald Beal

 

             I increasingly depend on intuition, instinct, and memory when I work

                                                   and trust these forces to help the painting find its way.

 

                              Donald Beal is a graduate of the Swain School of Design in New Bedford, studied at Brooklyn College,

                               and earned his MFA from Parsons. He has been a Professor of Fine Arts at the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth,

                               since 1999.

                               Beal most recently showed with Anthony Fisher in a 2012 two-person show at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.

                               Solo exhibitions include Prince Street Gallery, New York, Provincetown Art Association and Museum, Cape Cod Museum of Art,

                               and Provincetown’s Berta Walker Gallery. His work can be found in public and private collections throughout the U.S. and abroad.

                               Born in Syracuse, Beal was raised in Westford, Massachusetts and spent much of his childhood in Downeast Maine.

                               He lives and works in Provincetown with his wife, Khristine, and son Max, and is a guest lecturer and visiting artist in schools

                               across New England.
